Ninh Binh and Tam Coc

Anna Sardini's avatarAnna & Franco go to Asia for their Grand Tour

Ninh binh is a small town 150 km south of Hanoi, the town itself is nothing special but the surroundings are really gorgeous.
There is a National Parc and a little town called Tam Coc, where carst mountains are sorrounded by rice paddies.

Green in all its shades. We went on a rowing boat on a touristic path, full of local school trips and vietamse people; How do we know? Vietnamese people could stay in a boat with more than 2people, while foreigner only 2 per boat.
Aside the natural beauty of the path it was quite amusing being the second point of interest for those kids, who were shouting HELLOO and taking photos of us. ( sometimes they were giggling too…)

Afterwards we rented mountain bikes and we cicled in the countryside, amaazing.
basically, the idea that you have of Vietnam is there, waiting to be photographed and explored.

Hong Kong & Kowloon – Street Scenes in the Daylight

theprosaiczoomer's avatarFai Quan

Hong Kong and Kowloon are both fascinating cities with so much to see.  Since I never knew my Dad and this is where he lived and died, I imagined myself being in his shoes and seeing these same sights.  It was a very personal moment for me.

Hong Kong Station (MTR). A downtown check-in for those traveling by Air. Check-in your flight, check your bags and grab the train to the Airport. A convenience for allowing those with a later flight to spend some time exploring the city before heading to the airport.

John Kilar may reside in Venice Beach, but his raw and grainy shooting style depicts no California dreaming. Instead, he adopts a cold documentation of his experiences around LA.

Kilar utilises a unique and creative process, but due to the spontaneity of his subject matter he walks on the wild side just to capture a culture at its very worst. This immersive journalism portrays LA like it’s never been seen before. But amongst an extensive series of perturbing and descriptive imagery such as ‘Life’, there are snapshots of serenity amongst chaos, like the calm before the storm.

With this in mind, Kilar’s eclectic style gains coherence in the juxtaposition of artificiality of society and natures sterility. However, his work is nothing more than a sequence of opposing perceptions. Kilar has a tenacious ability to share more than the backstreets of LA. He communicates his feelings, thoughts and experiences between…

Momentos Decisivos em Brasil

vt's avatarzest and all the rest

The decisive moment is a phrase commonly associated with Henri Cartier-Bresson’s style of photography. It involves noticing patterns, artistic geometries and symmetries that frame snapshots of everyday life. Sometimes the moment is as serendipitous as running out of the rain or a pair of children racing past you. Other times, it is seeing something unusually interesting or beautiful and waiting for it. There were many times when I did not walk around Brazil with a camera because I just wanted to be in sync with a fascinating culture. One that is very comfortable with its appearance, pace of life, and very satisfied with good family and food. Music, art, and street vendors abound in every direction. The buses, which are not for the faint of heart, sped up cobble-stone roads taking sun-kissed teenagers and families home. Yet, Brazil was a playground for street photography, because the culture exists on the streets.

Decisive Moments…
