Amazing Weekend in Street Photography

I was absolutely stunned by the batch of strong photos posted this past week.  They’re amazingly unique images and represent a diversity of views from around the world.   The representative photo for this post was a difficult choice but the one below really resonated with me for its subject matter and composition.  Many thanks to all the photographers for sharing their works.  Please be sure to click on the “Reblogged from…” link at the top of each post to see more amazing photos on each photographers’ site.

Koyaanisqatsi

There’s some awesome street photography in this movie as well!

Adventures in Photography

“Koyannisqatsi” is the first film of “The Qatsi Trilogy”. The film is directed by Godfrey Reggio with Ron Fricke and Philip Glass responsible for cinematography and musical score respectively.

Ground breaking for its day, there is no plot or dialogue in the movie.   Koyannisqatsi consist entirely of synergistic music and imagery which is shot and played back in time lapse or slow motion.   The scenes range from the natural beauty of the Grand Canyon to the destructive power of the nuclear bomb to provide a breath taking critique on modern life which as the title suggest is a crazy and out of balance existence.

From train yards in Athens and Milan to street bombing, this video is all hardcore graff and no legal business.

He gave me the camera equipped with a Voigtlander 35mm f2.5, a couple of rolls of Kodak Tri-X 400 and I was totally set. I have to confess that I had to cheat a little bit during this street session but I’ll explain to you later.

The first thing to do was to load the film. A bit tricky for a complete M2 virgin like me.
