Loryne's avatarBeirut Street Photographers (BSP)

Danielle Houghton was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1969 and has had a passion for photography since picking up a camera as a teenager. Her commitment to Street Photography really ignited in 2010 and since then she has been very active in the online Street Photography Community. She has also exhibited in London.

She likes to explore fresh ways of documenting the streets we live in where a ‘street’ can be more than the traditional definition and can encompass anywhere a sense of life occurs.

Let us get to know Danielle a little bit better:

1. How did you get into street photography?

In a way I discovered street photography twice – though the first time I did not know what I enjoyed had a name.

In my teens, as my brother dabbled in developing black and white photographs in a cupboard at home. I thought it may be fun…

Silver Prints – March

dehk's avatarStraight, No Chaser.

Decided to kill some time yesterday afternoon printing. Finished off what’s left of the regular 8×10 paper. Also had some fun with my antique Zephyr lettering set on the prints, figure that’s better than my messy handy writing, still trying to get used to the lettering set yet. I think I had more fun with that stupid thing than printing. By the way trying something new, everything was printing f5.6 or below on the Rodagon with the help of ND and even CP, for those who knows what I am talking about, I don’t see much difference, do you?

Film - 027I’m going to give him this print Friday, hopefully he’s working. There’s a consistent scratch on the prints for this frame, I am not sure how it happens. But I do know I urgently need more archival sleeves to prevent that. Film - 028Fine example of scanned prints is not as good as…

Edinburgh

facesofthenorth's avatarFaces of the North

Yesterday I traveled to Edinburgh for the day with a group of friends. The first thing that struck me was the number of homeless people begging on the streets. It was bitterly cold and these folk were everywhere. On Princes Street we witnessed an act of kindness when a guy walked up to a homeless man and gave him a coat and then just walked off to get his bus.

Fernando Coelho is a Portuguese amateur street photographer wondering the streets of Lisbon looking for the decisive moments, mainly humorous or ironic. Fernando has been photographing for a long time and normally was focuses on shooting macro and landscapes with his EOS 7D. Fernando discovered street photography in 2012 and since going to a street photography workshop at the Lisbon center he’s never stopped shooting and he is usually able to produced and post a rewarding street shot every day.
In Fernado’s view the main advantages of street photography is that your in the right mood to start shooting and have the luck of living in a busy place like Lisbon.  Fernando’s main inspirations are Rui Palha and Thomas Leuthard, This is because most of Rui’s photos are made in Lisbon (my own city) and because his photos are really masterpieces where street photography meets fine art, and Thomas because of his…

Arts of Respect 2013

EvaJo Alvarez's avatarEvaJo Alvarez Photography

My entry for Arts of Respect 2013: Diversity.

My photographs are usually taken in various areas in New York City. With the hundreds of people passing by you at every second, one would see people of all kinds of races and ethnicities. My street photography goes in depth on what kinds of people I tend to see in the city. When I photograph, I don’t see a person based on their skin or race. Instead, I document their personalities, expression, and actions tell the viewer everything on where they are and who they are as people.
