This photograph was taken at the same surf life saving event as yesterdays photo. It was back in 1994 and I don’t recall why this chap looked so down – perhaps he had just lost the event he had taken part in.

Vivian.Maier
Some awesome street photography from New York’s Vivian Maier… During her time working as a Nanny in Chicago Vivian took thousands of photos, which remained un seen and many un developed until Chicago historian John Maloof discovered them in 2007…she died in 2009 at the age of 83…A book of her photography titled Vivian Maier: Street Photographer was published in 2011…for more see http://www.vivianmaier.com

A decent man
I guess I can appear strange to onlookers when they see me taking photographs of blank walls or raindrops forming on car roofs. It is something I am aware of as I am out shooting. It can be inhibiting at times, particularly in Cork, especially with the big and bulky DSLR. The iPhone is a much more discreet photographer’s tool.
Anyway, there I was on a side street off Grafton Street, Dublin, camera pointed at a blank wall waiting for tall, skinny, and hopefully, colourfully clothed people to pass by. Tall, skinny, and hopefully, colourfully clothed people! Yes! For the type of photographs I am looking for, (blur) tall, skinny, and hopefully, colourfully clothed people make the best images. More on that in later posts. So, I am there; waiting. Always looking around waiting for the image to take form, and I see raindrops on the rooftop of a parked…

Arts of Respect 2013
My entry for Arts of Respect 2013: Diversity.
My photographs are usually taken in various areas in New York City. With the hundreds of people passing by you at every second, one would see people of all kinds of races and ethnicities. My street photography goes in depth on what kinds of people I tend to see in the city. When I photograph, I don’t see a person based on their skin or race. Instead, I document their personalities, expression, and actions tell the viewer everything on where they are and who they are as people.

Street Photo of the Week #80
You might recognize this type of pedestrian crossing from the Beatles’ iconic Abbey Road album cover but the appeal behind these black and white markings goes beyond pop culture and can be found all around the world in slight modifications.
When we announced the “Zebra Crossing” theme, one of the first reactions we got from the community was “Do these even exist in Lebanon?” (they do). Whether all drivers know what they’re there for though is certainly up for debate.
This theme was an opportunity to not only find zebra crossings around you, but to also explore the visual impact they could add to your photographs. There’s an automatic contrast created with any subject interacting with these bold, parallel lines.
