I was writing an update to me gear page and looking at some shots I took with my FM2. This is one of my favs. I thought I’d share with you.
This is a shot I took at a miners strike demo in London back in the eighties. Policemen and women forming a corden before the march arrives .I love the way he has his hand on the policewoman just like he is caught in an embarrassing moment.I shouted to get the policeman to turn his head and snapped the shot.
I used my Nikon FM2 and a 100mm E lens . Film was Ilford XP2. It’s a fun candid of a serious moment .
This is a trial scan from my new Epson V700. .

Things get done outside. don’t wash your dirty clothes* at home.
People live the street more then I have seen. Tiny little stools constellate the sidewalks. There is an erosion of the pedestrian areas: motorbikes park and ride on the sidewalks; tiny little stools constellate the pavement, with people eating and playing in public spaces at every moment of the day. What eaters and riders don’t consume, it’s finally taken away by expansive construction work.
* for non-Italian speakers, that’s an expression in my mother tongue, which also means: we deal with our affairs behind closed doors.
