Cosmopolitan is the word I’ve heard the most when I hear and read about Shanghai. It is every bit true and in my experience, Shanghai is a tad less hectic than Beijing.

Well I was originally taking photos at MoMA for referencing. But this woman’s pose! I’m a sucker for romantic shots. If your looking at this and this is you, my apologies. Evidence suggests you’re into photography, so hopefully you’ll understand?
This first photograph is what inspired me to create a daily photo project. For the first time in a while, I picked up my DSLR and photographed for fun. My girlfriend and I spent the day doing nothing, but at the end of it all, there were 150+ photos on my camera. Most, if not almost all, were just throwaway shots; blurry, out of focus, poorly exposed. However, the photos were natural, and the expressions in them were real, but I digress.
This photo includes two of my favorite things to do with candid photography: motion blur, and cropping off heads. In my opinion, the former adds a great deal of action to a photograph, and the latter leaves something left to be discovered for the viewer. This is not a photo of a specific person, it’s a photo of an action. Those two techniques help emphasize that action.
