So often, a candid moment can turn into a more lengthy encounter. This was the case with Dorothy. I snapped this photo of her, smiled and thanked her but before I got on my way she said “my kids are always doing that to me!” and “I don’t look the best in photos”. I reassured her that was not the case, and we began talking about the weather and other topics such as farming and the economy. As it turned out we had quite a few things to chat about. Street photography for me is not a hurried race to get as many photos as possible. A relaxed approach is much more rewarding, at least from my perspective.
I seldom engage in street photography, because moments like this are few and far between.
However, if one is able to capture an instance like this — a moment of serendipity — and manage to frame it in a nice way, it’s a euphoric experience.
